Job summary

AHRC Nassau is seeking Direct Support Professionals to provide daily living support to individuals in Day Hab and ICF programs. DSPs assist with self-care, health, safety, and social activities to promote independence and quality of life.

They will transport participants to and from sites and community activities, acting as a key part of the support team. Strong communication and a commitment to inclusion are essential.

Qualifications

• Good oral and written communication skills.
• AMAP/First Aid/CPR/SCIP-R training preferred.
• Valid NYS Driver License required.
• Minimum one year experience with people who have intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of program volunteers at all sites and during activities.
• Train volunteers to perform tasks and support them in community settings.
• Act as second staff support transporting participants to and from sites and activities.
• Serve as liaison between site staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operations.
• Encourage appropriate interactions with peers and staff at all sites.
• Document incidents, successes, and concerns to Site Manager.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
