Job summary

Brigham House in Boston, MA seeks a full-time Cook for the Food Services and Chef department. The role prepares and presents meals per standards, collaborates with the food service director, and ensures a clean, sanitary kitchen. Physical ability to handle heavy tasks and participate in special events is required.

Hours are 2pm–7pm or 6am–2pm, including weekends. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid holidays, and paid time off. Background and medical clearances are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1–3 years experience as a cook in a hospitality or healthcare environment.
• Serve Safe Certification.
• Able to read and follow recipes and printed production guides, cleaning schedules, and logs.
• Must have submitted and completed a Criminal Background check for unlicensed employees in compliance with state regulation.
• Must provide a medical certification confirming no communicable disease including TB, as required by state regulation at hire and annually.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level of customer service and promote a restaurant style dining atmosphere.
• Work with the food service director to keep residents satisfied with food and dining programs.
• Maintain kitchen, storage and preparation areas in a clean, safe, sanitary condition at all times.
• Responsible for opening and/or closing of the kitchen.
• Adhere to cleaning schedules and ensure food is received, stored, and prepared per standards.
• Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and menus.
• Document temperatures of food prior to service and monitor refrigeration and freezer temps.
• Assist with special events, banquets, and theme meals.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
