Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ VA New Jersey Health Care System - East Orange Campus is seeking a Medical Support Assistant to coordinate care for a beneficiary panel in collaboration with providers, nurses, mental health professionals, pharmacists, and community care networks.

The MSA will handle patient messages, scheduling, and data entry, ensuring accurate communication and timely access to services within the Community Care program.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Skill in recording patient messages and requests.
• Ability to communicate with diverse health care teams.
• Ability to use office automation and scheduling software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care and manage workload to meet deadlines.
• Participate in team huddles and ensure continuity of care.
• Coordinate care with Third-Party Administrator (TPA-Optum).
• Scan and index documents into the electronic medical record.
• Monitor, trend, and analyze data per VA handbooks.
