Job summary

Veterans Health Administration, at the VA New Jersey Healthcare System East Orange Campus, seeks a Medical Support Assistant to coordinate Community Care for a beneficiary panel. The role interfaces with providers, nurses, and community care partners to ensure timely access to care and accurate documentation.

The MSA collaborates with the Third-Party Administrator (Optum) and clinic teams, monitors data trends, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Facilitate care coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrate effective communication with providers and staff.
• Monitor and improve patient flow and access to care.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care for a beneficiary panel with providers, RNs, and community care teams.
• Track workload, set priorities, and ensure deadlines are met.
• Collaborate with the Third-Party Administrator (TPA-Optum) throughout the care process.
• Review data and participate in quality improvement to enhance patient safety and care quality.
• Assist in developing standard procedures and document management within CPRS.
