Job summary

A community health organization in Staten Island is seeking a Community Access Information & Referral Specialist. This role involves conducting outreach to substance users, educating them about harm reduction interventions, and providing linkage to essential health services. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, experience with diverse populations, and be fluent in English and Spanish. A flexible schedule is necessary as weekends may be required. Qualifications

• Experience working with diverse populations, especially substance users.
• Conversant with harm reduction philosophy and interventions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Engage and inform substance users about harm reduction interventions.
• Provide education to reduce transmission of blood-borne diseases.
• Enroll individuals in syringe exchange programs and provide counseling.
• Conduct HIV and hepatitis C counseling and testing.
• Provide information to link individuals to health services.

Skills
