Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) seeks a Harm Reduction Counselor to join the Harm Reduction/Behavioral Health Department. You will conduct outreach to drug-using populations, deliver education to reduce health-related harms, and perform HIV and hepatitis C counseling and testing.

The role operates across communities, CHASI mobile units, and office settings to support clients in achieving personal health goals.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience working with substance-using individuals and diverse populations.
• CRPA, CASAC, or CASAC-T certification preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsabilités

• Conduct street outreach and community presentations to engage drug-using individuals in harm reduction interventions.
• Provide harm reduction education to promote sterile syringe use and safe syringe disposal.
• Distribute naloxone kits and train on overdose reversal techniques.
• Conduct HIV and HCV counseling, testing, and linkage to services.
• Link individuals to health and human services based on expressed needs.
• Collaborate with CHASI staff to identify new outreach venues and trends in drug use.
