Job summary

Project Talent Partners seeks an experienced Commissioning Project Lead to drive the commissioning programme for hyperscale data center projects in the United States. You will own planning through to handover, delivering mechanical, electrical and critical systems to the highest standards on-site.

Responsibilities include leading commissioning teams, coordinating with contractors and client representatives, and managing FPT/IST activities to ensure successful project handover.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience commissioning hyperscale data center projects.
• Experience leading commissioning teams in mission-critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of building services and critical infrastructure.
• Experience managing programmes from pre-functional testing to handover.

Location: Atlanta, GA

Our client, a leading commissioning and mission-critical services provider, is seeking an experienced Commissioning Project Lead to join their growing team delivering some of the largest hyperscale data center projects across the United States.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established commissioning specialist supporting global hyperscale clients on complex, high-value data center developments.

The Role

As the Commissioning Project Lead, you will take ownership of the commissioning programme from planning through to final handover, ensuring all mechanical, electrical and critical systems are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

You will lead commissioning teams on site, coordinate with contractors, consultants and client representatives, and drive successful project delivery across multiple mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all commissioning activities across hyperscale data center projects.
• Develop and manage commissioning plans, schedules and project deliverables.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with contractors, vendors, consultants and client teams.
• Manage Level 1–5 commissioning activities, Functional Performance Testing (FPT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and final client acceptance.
• Review commissioning documentation, test procedures and project close-out packages.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety and quality standards.
• Lead issue resolution during commissioning and support successful project handover.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience commissioning hyperscale data center projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading commissioning teams within mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services and critical infrastructure.
• Experience managing commissioning programmes from pre-functional testing through to final handover.
• Knowledge of BMS, EPMS, UPS, generators, HVAC, chilled water systems and life safety systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple contractors and work within fast-paced project environments.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Building Services is preferred.
• Previous experience working on projects for hyperscale operators such as AWS, Microsoft, Google, Meta or Oracle.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, TIA-942 and industry commissioning best practices.
• Professional memberships or commissioning certifications are advantageous.
