Role Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of full L1–L5 commissioning programs on large-scale hyperscale data center projects in the Phoenix market. The successful candidate will take ownership of the entire commissioning lifecycle, from preconstruction planning through integrated systems testing and final owner acceptance. Working alongside project leadership, trade partners, clients, and third‑party commissioning teams, you will ensure the successful delivery of highly reliable, high‑performance critical infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage full L1–L5 commissioning programs for hyperscale and mission‑critical data center projects.
- Develop commissioning plans, schedules, level‑gate processes, and testing strategies across all commissioning phases.
- Establish and enforce level‑entry and level‑exit criteria to ensure systems meet readiness requirements before progressing.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and third‑party commissioning authorities.
- Oversee commissioning activities involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and specialty systems.
- Drive L3 functional testing, L4 integrated systems testing (IST), and L5 full facility acceptance testing.
- Identify commissioning risks, implement recovery plans, and protect critical project milestones.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, redundancy requirements, owner specifications, and industry best practices.
- Lead client‑facing commissioning meetings, technical reviews, readiness assessments, and status reporting.
- Support preconstruction and design review efforts to optimize commissioning strategies and system sequencing.
- Manage commissioning documentation, deficiency tracking, issue resolution, owner training, and project turnover activities.
- Promote continuous improvement through commissioning innovation, digital tools, and standardized best practices.
Requirements
Required Experience
- Proven experience leading commissioning activities on large‑scale construction projects.
- Strong understanding of L1–L5 commissioning processes, including integrated systems testing and facility acceptance testing.
- Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, from planning through final turnover.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities managing multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong client‑facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Preferred Background
- Data center commissioning experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working for a General Contractor on mission‑critical projects.
- Commissioning Authority (CxA) experience will also be considered.
- Experience supporting hyperscale clients and Tier III/Tier IV facilities is highly desirable.
- Candidates from adjacent sectors such as semiconductor or complex industrial environments may also be considered.
- Exceptional Oil & Gas commissioning professionals with relevant project complexity experience are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of commissioning standards including ASHRAE, NEBB, and BCA guidelines.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, Procore, BIM 360, and commissioning management platforms.
Additional Requirements
- Must be currently based in the Phoenix area or willing to relocate to Phoenix.
- Ability to work on‑site supporting active commissioning and testing activities.
- Willingness to work occasional night shifts or weekends during critical commissioning phases.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast‑track project environments with demanding schedules.
- Competitive base salary of $140,000–$170,000 depending on experience.
