Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Commissioning Agent in Charlottesville to lead testing, balancing and verification of building systems. You will develop commissioning plans, review OPR/BOD, and coordinate with project partners and users to ensure performance and energy efficiency.

The role requires strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, plus experience with codes and BIM tools. A driver’s license is required for field work and site visits.

Qualifications

  • Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design.
  • General understanding of building systems across disciplines including fire protection, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.
  • Experience in computer operation and ability to learn engineering calculation programs, computer-aided drafting/BIM software for the purpose accessing and interpreting design requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commissioning process delivery plans from information set forth in Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), Basis of Design (BOD), plans and specification construction documents, as well as information gathered from users, project partners, field surveys, and code research.
  • Resolve commissioning challenges and complete tasks assigned.
  • Collaborate with clients, project partners and individuals at all levels in the organization to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project partners and follow through with team members.

  • General understanding of building systems across disciplines including fire protection, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing/piping.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.
  • Experience in computer operation and ability to learn engineering calculation programs, computer-aided drafting/BIM software for the purpose accessing and interpreting design requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance.
