Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) in Nashville is seeking a Commissioning Agent to lead energy-efficient commissioning efforts for complex building projects.

You will develop delivery plans based on OPR/BOD and project docs, resolve commissioning challenges, and work with designers, engineers, and clients to ensure design intent is achieved. The role requires HVAC/ mechanical/ electrical knowledge, code interpretation skills, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design, or commensurate design or construction experience.
  • General understanding of building systems across disciplines including fire protection, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing/piping.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.
  • Experience in computer operation and ability to learn engineering calculation programs, computer-aided drafting/BIM software for the purpose accessing and interpreting design requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commissioning process delivery plans from information set forth in Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), Basis of Design (BOD), plans and specification construction documents.
  • Resolve commissioning challenges and complete tasks assigned, including information gathered from users, project partners, field surveys, and code research.
  • Collaborate with clients and project partners and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Apply safety training to specific construction situations and ensure safe work environments.
  • Operate and interpret test and measurement equipment and use common tools to diagnose and solve construction and operational problems.

In this role, you will be responsible for resolving commissioning challenges and completing tasks assigned, including developing and implementing commissioning process delivery plans from information set forth in Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), Basis of Design (BOD), plans and specification construction documents, as well as information gathered from users, project partners, field surveys, and code research.

Expertise of our most successful Commissioning Agent:
  • Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design, or construction engineering from an accredited technical institution or college; or commensurate design or construction experience.
  • General understanding of building systems across disciplines including fire protection, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing/piping.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.
  • Experience in computer operation and ability to learn engineering calculation programs, computer-aided drafting/BIM software for the purpose accessing and interpreting design requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance.
