Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in Charlottesville seeks a Commissioning Agent to lead commissioning tasks for energy-efficient buildings, translating Owner’s Project Requirements into delivery plans and ensuring quality across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

You will collaborate with owners, project partners and field teams to resolve commissioning challenges, apply safety practices, and document test results, commissioning criteria, and final acceptance packages.

Qualifications

  • Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design or construction engineering.
  • General understanding of building systems across disciplines including fire protection, HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commissioning plans from OPR, BOD, and construction documents.
  • Resolve commissioning challenges and ensure quality across building systems.
  • Collaborate with owners, partners, and field teams; document results and acceptance packages.

Here’s Why We Need You

In this role, you will be responsible for resolving commissioning challenges and completing tasks assigned, including developing and implementing commissioning process delivery plans from information set forth in Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), Basis of Design (BOD), plans and specification construction documents, as well as information gathered from users, project partners, field surveys, and code research.

Expertise Of Our Most Successful Commissioning Agent
  • Technical or Associate Degree in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or architectural design, or construction engineering from an accredited technical institution or college; or commensurate design or construction experience.
  • General understanding of building systems across disciplines including fire protection, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing/piping.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.
  • Experience in computer operation and ability to learn engineering calculation programs, computer-aided drafting/BIM software for the purpose accessing and interpreting design requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance.
