GENERAL FUNCTION:

Responsible for profitable business development and monitoring the quality of an extensive existing portfolio of companies with annual gross sales of at least $10 million, with emphasis on customers with higher revenues (i.e., at least $20 million). Able to lead and coordinate with One Bank Partners to create and implement relationship strategies for assigned clients and prospects. Requires a strong understanding of credit, commercial products, and financial statement analysis to offer beneficial banking solutions (e.g., loans, treasury management, capital markets) based on client needs. The role involves working with high-revenue, complex relationships and soliciting participation in public debt issuance. Active participation in community activities is also expected.

Risk and Compliance:

Accountable for risk management by adhering to policies, elevating concerns, and ensuring actions drive a positive customer experience while operating within the Bank's risk appetite. Results are achieved through ongoing risk assessment, management, and reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identify and develop profitable new client relationships leveraging influence networks, existing clients, and referrals.
  2. Develop and execute a business plan to meet financial and qualitative goals.
  3. Collaborate with internal partners to deepen existing relationships and acquire new ones.
  4. Participate in community and industry events to expand networks and stay informed on trends and practices.
  5. Work with product teams to analyze, evaluate, and develop tailored relationship strategies, balancing opportunity maximization with risk and client needs.
  6. Meet regularly with clients to strengthen trusted advisor relationships and ensure their needs are met.
  7. Apply consultative sales skills, use the commercial playbook, and maintain call reports to enhance client experience.
  8. Utilize CRM systems for activity tracking, reporting, and pipeline management.
  9. Analyze financial data to determine appropriate credit requests.
  10. Monitor client financial performance, industry trends, and risk levels continuously to ensure acceptable credit exposure and appropriate pricing.
  11. Partner with Portfolio Managers and Credit Officers on credit requests, adhering to management guidelines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

No formal supervisory responsibilities. Expected to guide Commercial RM I & II.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of Commercial Banking experience; 5+ years in sales preferred.
  • Formalized commercial credit training or equivalent experience required.
  • Underwriting experience preferred.
  • Proven partnership with investment bankers for strategic advice.
  • Track record of building client business and delivering positive experiences.
  • Strong analytical skills, understanding of financial statements, and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of commercial, treasury management, and financing options.
  • Ability to assess client needs and profitability drivers.
  • Effective communication skills, including negotiation.
  • Team-oriented with proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM tools.
  • Willingness to travel regionally/local.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard office environment with minimal exposure to environmental factors.
  • Extended periods viewing CRT screens.
  • Frequent travel possible depending on assignment.

Fifth Third Bank offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package, including competitive salary, benefits, and incentive plans. The salary range for this role is $94,500 to $203,200 annually, with additional performance-based incentives. Location: Chicago, Illinois 60606.
