Job summary

People’s Bank & Trust Co. is seeking a Commercial Lending Assistant to support the commercial lending team with loan documentation, processing, and client service.

You will help prepare applications, collect information, and maintain accurate loan files to ensure smooth approvals. The role requires strong attention to detail, solid organizational and communication skills, and familiarity with financial software.

Qualifications

• Experience in a financial or administrative role in banking preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organization required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills desired.
• Proficient with Excel and Word; financial software familiarity is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; banking regulations knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and processing of commercial loan applications and documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with loan officers and clients to gather information necessary for loan processing and approval.
• Maintain and update loan files and records electronically and physically to stay complete and current.
• Provide excellent customer service by responding to client inquiries and supporting throughout the loan process.
• Perform preliminary analysis of loan applications to ensure all required data is provided and accurately assessed.
• Collaborate with other departments to expedite loan processing and approvals, adhering to timelines and procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations related to the commercial lending process.
• Monitor the status of active loans and provide updates to clients and internal stakeholders as needed.
• Participate in departmental meetings and trainings to stay informed on industry regulations, trends, and best practices.
