Job summary

Jobot, a boutique Commercial Litigation Firm in Downers Grove, IL, seeks a Commercial Litigation Attorney with at least 1 year of experience. This permanent role has no billable-hour requirement, offering meaningful client work and ownership of cases from intake to resolution.

You will handle civil and commercial disputes, estates, trusts, and mergers and acquisitions, developing practical strategies and drafting key pleadings. It’s an on-site position with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• At least 1 year of civil and commercial litigation experience.
• Experience with estates, trusts, and mergers and acquisitions, or related disputes.
• Strong writing and analytical abilities.
• Ability to independently manage litigation matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil and commercial litigation matters from intake through appeal.
• Develop case strategies aligned with clients’ objectives.
• Draft pleadings, briefs, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and other documents.
• Conduct legal research, assess evidence, take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlements.
• Advise on litigation risks arising from mergers and acquisitions.
• Collaborate with transactional counsel to address complex issues and pursue efficient resolutions.
• Communicate clearly with clients about case developments and strategy.
• Maintain organized case files, meet deadlines, and uphold standards.
