Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Commercial Litigation Attorney or Partner to join our Chicago office on a permanent, hybrid basis. The position involves representing individuals, business entities, and major credit grantors in complex commercial litigation and related proceedings.

Candidates should have 6+ years of experience, a proven ability to manage matters from complaint through resolution, strong courtroom presence, and an active Illinois bar license.

Qualifications

• 6+ yrs. commercial litigation experience.
• Proven track-record of managing matters independently from complaint through resolution.
• Comfortable in the courtroom, at the podium, in depositions, and in negotiations.
• Understand the interplay between clients, opposing counsel, and the courts with strategic thinking across state, federal, and appellate venues.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Active Illinois bar license.

• Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeals in state and federal courts.
• Provide strategic pre-litigation counseling and risk assessment to minimize exposure and resolve disputes efficiently.
• Draft, review, and negotiate litigation-related documents, including demand letters, settlement agreements, and consent judgments.

• Representing individuals, business entities, and major credit grantors in complex commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract disputes, shareholder conflicts, business torts, and enforcement actions.
• Handling all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeals in state and federal courts.
• Providing strategic pre-litigation counseling and risk assessment to minimize exposure and resolve disputes efficiently.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating litigation-related documents, including demand letters, settlement agreements, and consent judgments.

Expectations:

• 6+ yrs. commercial litigation experience
• Have a command of litigation and a proven track‑record of managing matters independently (complaint through resolution);
• Be comfortable in the courtroom, at the podium, in depositions, and across the negotiating table;
• Understand the interplay between clients, opposing counsel, and the courts - with demonstrated strategic thinking across all forums, including state court, federal district court, and appellate court;
• Possess excellent organizational and time management skills; and
• Hold an active bar license in Illinois
