Job summary

Professional Placement Services is seeking a Bookkeeper with construction accounting experience to support a family-focused general contractor in Ohio. The role emphasizes accurate financial reporting, project cost tracking, and collaboration with project managers and external accounting firms.

The candidate will manage AP/AR, reconciliations, and month-end close, while handling contracts, change orders, and lien waivers. Procore and QuickBooks proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience
• Strong understanding of commercial construction accounting including contracts, change orders, lien waivers, subcontractors, project costs, and construction-related taxes
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, and financial reporting; Procore experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

This position will play an important role in producing accurate financial information, tracking project performance, and providing management with the reporting they need to make informed decisions.

[DUTIES]

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, ACH payments, reconciliations, and month/quarter/year-end closeout.
• Maintain and track construction-related financial activity, including contracts, change orders, invoices, payments, project costs, commitments, lien waivers, subcontractor documentation, and taxes.
• Produce meaningful financial and project reports using QuickBooks and Procore, identify discrepancies and trends, and provide management with accurate information for decision-making.

[REQUIREMENTS]

• 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, with commercial construction experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction accounting, including contracts, change orders, lien waivers, subcontractors, project costs, and construction-related taxes.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, and financial reporting; Procore experience strongly preferred. CPA or Controller-level experience is not required.

[DETAILS]

• $60,000–$80,000 annually, based on experience.
• Health, dental, vision, and life insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid vacation and sick days.
• Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM — full-time position working closely with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, leadership, and third-party accounting firms.
