As a Commercial Casualty Claims Adjuster, you will serve as a real partner to our members by processing claims accurately and efficiently so they can resume their life's work without unnecessary delay. Responsibilities
- Investigates coverage and cause of loss on routine to more complicated claims, including policy review, interviewing all parties associated with the loss, and gathering and analyzing investigative documentation.
- Handles non-represented, represented, and litigated injury and property damage claims, including investigating and evaluating exposures. Identifies significant exposures to triage to the large loss team.
- Provides accurate assessments, negotiates fair and efficient claims resolutions, and manages costs. Settles losses according to damage, policy language, regulations, and authority.
- Prepares written communication such as settlement letters, disclaimers of coverage, and reservation of rights letters.
- Maintains claim file documentation and diary system to ensure timely development and disposition of claims.
- Recognizes and pursues recovery opportunities and prepares submissions to SIU when indicated.
- Assigns and supervises field examiners and vendor resources, including adjusters, engineers, and other experts.
- Assumes additional duties as defined.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in handling Commercial Liability Claims.
- Property and casualty license or willingness to obtain one within 30 days.
- Experience in litigation handling.
- Understanding of coverage concepts, policy interpretation, exposure recognition, and liability determination.
- Ability to work independently in a home-based environment.
- Skilled negotiation abilities.
- Willingness to travel periodically.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- CPCU or SCLA certification preferred.
- Ability to support loss evaluations and present findings effectively.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations.
- Strong written communication skills, with well-organized and concise reports.
Compensation
- $59,400 - $99,000 based on experience, plus bonuses.
- In CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, PA: $65,400 - $109,000, plus bonuses.
