As a Commercial Casualty Claims Adjuster, you will serve as a key partner to our members by processing claims accurately and efficiently, enabling them to resume their lives without unnecessary delays. Responsibilities:
- Investigate coverage and causes of loss on routine to complex claims, including policy review, interviewing involved parties, and gathering investigative documentation.
- Handle injury and property damage claims involving non-represented, represented, and litigated cases, including evaluating exposures and triaging large losses.
- Provide accurate assessments, negotiate fair resolutions, and manage costs, settling claims within authority and according to policy, regulations, and damages.
- Prepare written communications such as settlement letters, disclaimers, and reservation of rights letters.
- Maintain effective claim file documentation and monitor diaries to ensure timely processing and disposition of claims.
- Identify recovery opportunities and prepare submissions to SIU when appropriate.
- Assign and supervise field examiners and vendors, including adjusters, engineers, and other experts.
Skills & Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience handling Commercial Liability Claims.
- Property and casualty license or Independent Adjuster license (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment).
- Experience in litigation handling.
- Understanding of coverage concepts, policy interpretation, exposure recognition, and liability determination.
- Ability to work independently in a home-based environment.
- Strong negotiation skills in difficult situations.
- Willingness to travel periodically.
Recommended Qualifications:
- CPCU or SCLA certification preferred.
- Ability to analyze expenses, indemnity, and support loss evaluations effectively.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to work.
- Strong written communication skills, including organizing and concise reporting.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $59,400 - $99,000, plus bonus eligibility
- In certain states (CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, PA): $65,400 - $109,000, plus bonus eligibility
