Job Description
As a Commercial Casualty Claims Adjuster, you will serve as a real partner to our members by processing claims accurately and efficiently so they can resume their life's work without unnecessary delay. Responsibilities
- Investigates coverage and cause of loss on routine to more complicated claims, including policy review, interviewing all parties involved, and analyzing investigative documentation.
- Handles injury and property damage claims, including investigating and evaluating exposures. Identifies severe exposures for triage to the large loss team.
- Provides accurate assessments and negotiates fair claims resolutions while managing costs. Settles losses within authority and according to policy, regulations, and statutory considerations.
- Prepares written communication such as settlement letters, disclaimers, and reservation of rights letters.
- Maintains claim file documentation and monitors diaries for timely development and disposition of claims.
- Recognizes recovery opportunities and prepares submissions to SIU when appropriate.
- Assigns and supervises field examiners and vendor resources, including adjusters and experts.
- Assumes additional duties as needed.
Skills/Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years handling Commercial Liability Claims.
- Property and casualty or Independent Adjuster license (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
- Experience in litigation handling.
- Understanding of coverage, policy interpretation, and liability concepts.
- Ability to work independently in a home-based environment.
- Negotiation skills in difficult situations.
- Willingness to travel periodically.
Recommended Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- CPCU or SCLA certification preferred.
- Ability to support loss evaluations and present findings effectively.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Compensation
- $59,400 - $99,000 depending on experience, plus bonus eligibility
- In certain states, $65,400 - $109,000 plus bonus eligibility
