Job description

As a Commercial Casualty Claims Adjuster, you will serve as a partner to our members by processing claims accurately and efficiently, enabling them to resume their lives without unnecessary delays. Responsibilities:

1. Investigate coverage and cause of loss on routine to complex claims, including policy review, interviewing involved parties, and gathering investigative documentation.
2. Handle injury and property damage claims, including investigating exposures and identifying severe exposures for triage to the large loss team.
3. Provide accurate assessments, negotiate fair resolutions, and manage costs within authority, considering damages, policy language, and regulations.
4. Prepare written communications such as settlement letters and coverage disclaimers.
5. Maintain claim documentation and monitor diaries for timely development and disposition.
6. Identify recovery opportunities and coordinate with SIU when needed.
7. Supervise field examiners and vendors, including adjusters and experts.

Skills & Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience handling Commercial Liability Claims.
• Property and casualty or Independent Adjuster license (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
• Experience with litigation.
• Knowledge of coverage concepts, policy interpretation, and liability assessment.
• Ability to work independently from a home environment.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically.

Recommended Qualifications:

• CPCU or SCLA certification preferred.
• Ability to analyze expenses, indemnity, and support loss evaluations.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong mathematical and report-writing skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Compensation:

• Salary ranges from $59,400 to $99,000 based on experience, plus bonuses.
• In certain states, salary ranges from $65,400 to $109,000.
