Job summary

Northwestern Mutual offers a College Financial Representative internship designed to help students build a personal financial planning practice while studying. You’ll learn prospecting, develop a business strategy, and meet with potential clients to understand their goals.

Participants receive coaching, access to proprietary tools, and opportunities to obtain licensing such as Series 6/63 and CFP. The program supports career growth toward full-time roles after graduation.

Qualifications

• Full-time student; juniors and seniors preferred.
• Entrepreneurial ambitions and curiosity for sales.
• Highly involved on campus (leader, athlete, campus orgs, student government, etc)
• Excellent time-management skills
• Interest in financial literacy and planning tools
• Business savvy and desire to increase critical thinking abilities

Responsibilities

• Learn prospecting and networking to build client base.
• Develop and execute a business strategy.
• Call on potential clients and set meetings to understand financial goals.
• Prepare plans and offer useful recommendations.
• Gain exposure to proprietary planning software platforms.
• Engage in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
• Receive licensing (Life, Accident, Health) insights and build skills.
