Qualifications

• Significant years of experience obtained in the collection of delinquent loans.
• Ability to independently apply credit and collection principles and practices to collect charged off loans.
• Ability to read, comprehend and analyze written material.
• Ability to exercise assertiveness and initiative.
• Ability to deal tactfully with individuals in difficult situations.
• Thorough knowledge of credit and collection laws.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills including familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and analyzes information in automated collection systems to determine action for recovery.
• Determines reason for non-payment and establishes equitable repayment arrangements.
• Counsels debtors to enable repayment to NFCU.
• Negotiates repayment with appropriate parties.
• Corresponds with debtors using letters from automated systems.
• Provides information for correspondence to debtors, attorneys, etc.
• Follows up on broken payment promises to ensure commitment adherence.
• Locates assets of debtors who refuse to repay.
• Retains attorneys to obtain court judgments to seize assets and recover.
• Contacts attorneys for updates on accounts and manages collection attorneys.
• Recommends repossession of collateral and related actions.
• Approves seizure of funds or settlements within limits or escalates as needed.
• Maintains records of information and actions in automated systems.
• Updates debtor addresses and account statuses in systems.
• Resolves credit bureau disputes and manages agency assignments.
• Reviews payments to ensure correct crediting in systems.
• Calculates finance charges, collection costs and waiver of settled balances.
