Job summary

The Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, IL is seeking a detail-oriented, process-driven staff member to handle behind-the-scenes logistics of our library intake and inventory. This role focuses on accuracy and reliability to keep materials ready for patrons.

You’ll unpack shipments, reconcile invoices, update the library's ILS, and support cataloging workflows. The position involves light lifting and regular collaboration with Finance and Operations teams, with 25 hours per week at $21 per hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Knowledge of Sierra software preferred.
• Ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry boxes weighing up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inventory & Invoicing: Unpack shipments of new materials, inspect them for damage, and meticulously match items to invoices to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Financial Record-Keeping: Create and transmit essential financial data to the Finance Department and reconcile credit card statements with vendor invoices.
• System Management: Keep payment transactions and order statuses current within our Integrated Library System (ILS).
• Workflow Support: Generate and print work slips to keep the cataloging and processing teams moving efficiently.
• Serials Management: Receive and check in magazine shipments, apply labels, deliver current issues to service desks, and manage the weeding of older issues.
