Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s is seeking a Remote Medical Coder to support accurate coding and timely billing for hospital-based ancillary services. The role reviews medical records, assigns ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and maintains credential knowledge while meeting productivity standards.

Beginning remotely with mandatory onsite training for six months, you’ll train to ensure accurate coding and timely billing, with attention to compliance and continuous credential maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No experience required.
  • Eligible to sit for CCS/RHIT/RHIA/CPC/CCA/CCS-P/CPC-A, with credential to be obtained within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical records and abstract designated statistical and clinical data into Epic and/or Fastrack.
  • Assign ICD-10-CM and/or CPT codes accurately and ethically using 3M encoding software and coding manuals.
  • Meet established productivity standards and submit coding activity logs on time.
  • Manage deadlines and support departmental bill-hold and accounts receivable goals.
  • Maintain coding knowledge and complete continuing education to maintain credentials.

While this is a remote opportunity, you must be able to train onsite for a minimum of 6 months.

What Will Help You Be Successful
  • Interest or exposure in HB ancillary, laboratory, radiology, or related coding.
  • Careful review of medical records and consistent application of coding guidance.
  • Ability to learn formal processes, manage routine work, and ask for guidance when interpretation is needed.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No experience required.
  • CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, CCA, CPC-A, CCS-P, or eligibility to sit for a credential exam. If hired while exam-eligible, the credential must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Helpful exposure includes hospital-based ancillary, laboratory, radiology, billing, or related revenue-cycle work. These backgrounds should not be treated as hard requirements.
