Job summary

UW Health is seeking a Coding Quality Analyst - PB to develop, conduct, and coordinate the review process for coding quality. You will analyze errors, advise staff on quality improvement opportunities, and provide individualized feedback to coders.

The role requires CPT/ICD-10-CM/HCPCS proficiency, 3+ years in coding/review in healthcare, and CPC/CCS/CIC/COC/CCS-P certification. UW Health offers flexible shifts and strong benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Medical Coding Program required.
  • Two years of Coding experience may be considered in lieu of the medical coding program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health care related field preferred.
  • Graduate of a Health Information Technology program preferred.
  • 3 years of related coding or review experience in a health care setting required.
  • 5 years multi-specialty professional coding experience in an academic medical center preferred.
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheets and database software required.
  • Experience with CPT/ ICD-10-CM/ HCPCS required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office required.
  • Licenses & Certifications: CPC/ CCS/ CIC/ COC/ CCS-P required; CPMA/ RHIT/ RHIA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, conduct, and coordinate the review process for coding quality.
  • Analyze errors and advise staff on quality improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in individualized feedback for coding staff and summarize results.
  • Prepare summary reporting of coding review results and identify trends for educational opportunities.
  • Assist in education initiatives and provide targeted guidance to staff.

Job description

Work Schedule:

1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week. Scheduled shifts are primarily day hours, actual shifts are flexible and the specifics will be discussed in the interview process. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

We are seeking a Coding Quality Analyst - PB to:

Develop, conduct, and/or coordinate the review process for coding quality. This includes, analyzing errors and formulating advice/education, identifying and advising staff on quality improvement opportunities, participating in individualized feedback for coding staff, and summarizing results and identifying trends for specific educational opportunities.

Qualifications:

Graduate of a Medical Coding Program required. Two (2) years of Coding experience may be considered in lieu of the medical coding program in addition to the experience below.

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Bachelor's Degree in a health care related field preferred

Graduate of a Health Information Technology program preferred


Work Experience

3 years of related coding or review experience in a health care setting required

5 years multi-specialty professional coding experience in an academic medical center preferred

Experience with word processing, spreadsheets and database software required

Experience with coding concepts (Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), International Classification of Disease 10th Edition-Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), and Health Care Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) required

Experience using Microsoft Office required


Licenses & Certifications:

Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P) required

Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred
