Job summary

McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center is seeking a qualified Medical Coder to abstract clinical information from medical records and assign ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes in accordance with established procedures. The role involves using coding databases and confirming DRG assignments, with supervision under the Health Information Management leadership.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent with CPC/CCS/RHIT/RHIA eligibility and at least 1 year of acute care coding experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum, high school diploma or equivalent, CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, eligible.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year experience in coding acute care medical records using ICD and CPT coding systems.

Responsibilities

  • Abstracts clinical information from medical records, charts and documents and assigns appropriate ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes.
  • Works with coding databases and confirms DRG assignments.
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision.
  • Reports to the Director of Health Information Management.
