Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and perform admissions and financial functions.
  • Interviews to initiate patient accounts.
  • Evaluate information for patient type, hospital service code, diagnosis and tests.
  • Determine documentation requirements based on medical and financial indicators.
  • Secure information to assure rapid reimbursement.
  • Initiate collection activity for co-pays and balances due.
  • Educate patients on medical necessity requirements.
  • Process payments and handle patient valuables.
  • Serve as liaison between patient, visitors and treatment authorization.
  • Provide information on consent, benefits, responsibility, records, rights and directives.
  • Maintain documentation including medical records, logs and schedules.

Hourly Base Rate: $21.38 - $27.21

Job Summary:

  • Under immediate supervision of the lead patient access clerk performs a variety of registration, admission, public relations, financial and medical service functions.
  • Perform interviews for the purpose of initiating accounts.
  • Evaluates information to determine appropriate flow of patient type, hospital service code, diagnosis, tests and procedures needed, medical necessity and priority.
  • Determines appropriate documentation and form requirements based on medical and financial indicators.
  • Secures information to assure rapid reimbursement
  • Initiates collection activity by requesting co-payments, deposits and anticipated balance due.
  • Provides education to patients related to medical necessity requirements.
  • Receives and documents acceptance of cash, checks, credit card payments as well as patient valuables.
  • Acts as liaison between the patient, visitors and others and of treatment authorization
  • Provides information and answers questions about consent for treatment, assignment of benefits, acceptance of financial responsibility, release of records, patient rights and responsibilities and advance directives
  • Maintains required documentation including patient medical records, logs and schedules, written and electronic. Identifies, responds, and announces all code phone and wall alarm activations.
