Job summary

The City of Savannah is seeking a Code Compliance Officer Trainee to enforce a wide range of local ordinances including property maintenance, zoning, parking, sanitation and towing. You will patrol, inspect, issue notices, and help educate residents to keep Savannah neighborhoods safe and orderly.

This entry‑level role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, IPMC within one year, and IZC optional.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience in property maintenance, law, zoning, or other code enforcement
• IPMC certification must be obtained within one year
• IZC certification is optional

Responsibilities

• Enforces regulatory codes and ordinances as mandated.
• Assists with on-site inspections and investigations for compliance.
• Patrols designated areas to identify code violations.
• Issues correction notices to violators.
• Writes and delivers subpoenas as needed.
• Conducts property owner research and takes photographs of violations.
• Maintains complete and accurate records of inspections and actions.
• Attends neighborhood association meetings to present code enforcement information.
