The City of Savannah is seeking a Code Compliance Officer Trainee to enforce a wide range of local ordinances including property maintenance, zoning, parking, sanitation and towing. You will patrol, inspect, issue notices, and help educate residents to keep Savannah neighborhoods safe and orderly.
This entry‑level role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, IPMC within one year, and IZC optional.

As a Code Compliance Officer Trainee, you will be responsible for enforcing a wide variety of local ordinances including property maintenance, zoning, residential parking, sanitation, tourism, short-term vacation rentals, vehicles for hire, and towing operators to promote a safe, clean and healthy environment.

High school diploma or GED; property maintenance, law, zoning, or other code enforcement experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess a valid driver's license and ability to walk several blocks in neighborhoods daily, taking, and downloading pictures. International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) must be obtained within one (1) year of employment. Failure to obtain the IPMC certification within one year will result in immediate termination. International Zoning Certifications (IZC) is optional. Successfully obtaining certifications will result in a pay increase.
This is a critical workforce position.
Work Location: 6 Interchange Court savannah, GA
Work Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM - Rotating Weekends Off (*Work hours may vary and are subject to change according to operational needs)
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; a motor vehicle report will be conducted, and driving history must meet the standards outlined by the City of Savannah
