Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Requires two (2) years of relevant and related work experience, preferrable in a municipal setting.
• Must be able to obtain Level I Code Enforcement, Level II Plan Reviewer, and Level IB Inspector within one year of hiring.
• Requires a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Determines compliance or non-compliance with codes; meets with property owners to discuss violations; issues notices and citations; collects evidence and prepares materials for court.
• Interprets and enforces provisions of codified laws; provides information and technical assistance; discusses problem areas with developers, residents, and contractors.
• Reviews blueprints, plans, and permits for residential, commercial and other projects; ensures accuracy and completeness of forms and documents.
• Maintains comprehensive records of enforcement activities; enters data; organizes and files documents in designated order.

Certification: Level I Code Enforcement

Certification: Level II Plan Reviewer
