Job summary

DeKalb County is seeking a Training Specialist to design, implement and evaluate curricula focusing on knowledge areas supporting departmental programs. The role targets employees and new hires, with emphasis on improving skills and aligning with policy changes.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Public/Business Administration or Education or equivalent and have at least two years of training/teaching experience. Certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public/Business Administration, Education or equivalent experience and certification.
• Two years of training/teaching experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience providing the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess training needs for current employees and new hires.
• Consult with management and staff to understand training requirements and policy changes.
• Develop curricula/outlines and select instructional methods (lectures, workshops, demonstrations).
• Design and refine training materials and courses.
• Create teaching aids such as handbooks, multimedia materials and tutorials.
• Deliver training sessions across various areas (customer service, billing, hardware/software, interpersonal skills).
• Present standard and customized training courses.
• Monitor and test trainees to measure progress and effectiveness.
• Maintain trainee records and report training progress to management.
• Evaluate and update programs to meet evolving needs and regulatory changes.
