Job summary

City of Naples is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to investigate potential code violations and promote health, safety, and welfare within the city. The role follows enforcement processes to achieve compliance with City ordinances and involves inspecting, evaluating complaints, and presenting cases to the Code Enforcement Board.

Responsibilities include issuing citations, conducting outreach, patrolling for compliance, and coordinating with other departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two years' experience in municipal code and ordinance enforcement functions.
• Ability to read and interpret zoning plats, ordinances, survey documentation and related land management data; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license, class E, with a driving record meeting City standards.
• Level 1 FACE certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and presents cases concerning code violations to the Code Enforcement Board.
• Issues citations for City code violations.
• Conducts outreach presentations with neighborhood associations and organizations.
• Assists other City departments with code compliance issues as needed.
• Investigates citizen complaints to determine code compliance.
• Proactively patrols the City for code compliance.
• Performs investigative activities such as permitting, license compliance, and related checks.
• Investigates signage compliance, parking of commercial/boat/trailer vehicles.
• Inspects exempt structures for compliance and investigates city waterways usage.
• Conducts follow-up investigations to ensure compliance with Board findings.
