Job summary

The City of Renton is recruiting a Code Compliance Inspector in the Community & Economic Development Division. This role enforces the Renton Municipal Code, investigates nuisances and zoning issues, and coordinates with other departments.

It blends field inspections with office case management, including report writing, documentation, and providing clear corrective actions to property owners. Hybrid work is possible up to 2 remote days; candidates must reside in Washington and be able to respond

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning or related field.
• 2+ years of code enforcement experience OR 6+ years of relevant education/experience.
• Valid Driver's License; background and driving record checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections to assure safety and welfare of residents and enforce Renton Municipal Code.
• Investigate complaints related to code violations and nuisances; initiate compliance procedures.
• Research planning files and review comments to determine approvals.
