The City of Renton is recruiting for a Code Compliance Inspector within the Community & Economic Development (CED) Division. This position is responsible for enforcing provisions of the Renton Municipal Code and resolving violations related to nuisance properties, building and zoning standards, vegetation, temporary structures, and public safety concerns. Inspectors conduct field investigations, document violations, and communicate required corrective actions with professionalism and clarity. The role requires a balance of fieldwork and office-based case management, including report writing, documentation, and coordination with partner departments. This is a fast-paced, community-facing position that supports Renton’s commitment to safety, livability, and consistent code enforcement.
The City of Renton supports workers performing in a hybrid capacity (partial telework/in-office) where job responsibilities can be performed remotely. This position may be eligible for a telework arrangement, up to 2 days remote, based on the operational needs of the City and specific Department. Regardless of job title or telework arrangement, City of Renton employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance to their worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
