The City of Renton is seeking a Code Compliance Inspector in the Community & Economic Development Division. You will enforce the Renton Municipal Code, address nuisances and property violations, and coordinate with multiple departments.
A balance of fieldwork and office case management is required. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 2 years of code enforcement experience (or 6 years of equivalent education/experience), and a valid driver’s license.
The City of Renton is recruiting for aCode Compliance Inspector within the Community & Economic Development (CED) Division. This position is responsible for enforcing provisions of the Renton Municipal Code and resolving violations related to nuisance properties, building and zoning standards, vegetation, temporary structures, and public safety concerns. Inspectors conduct field investigations, document violations and communicate required corrective actions with professionalism and clarity. The role requires a balance of fieldwork and office-based case management, including report writing, documentation and coordination with partner departments. This is a fast-paced, community-facing position that supports Renton’s commitment to safety, livability and consistent code enforcement.

The City of Renton supports workers performing in a hybrid capacity (partial telework/in-office) where job responsibilities can be performed remotely. This position may be eligible for a telework arrangement, up to 2 days remote, based on the operational needs of the City and specific Department. Regardless of job title or telework arrangement, City of Renton employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance to their worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
