Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface preparation, measure ambient conditions, and document each coating stage on tanks, structures, and pipes.

In this role you will maintain logs, ensure instruments are accurate, and observe safety procedures around blasting and spray operations.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, blasting, and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against manufacturer data.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
