Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coatings under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface prep to SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions, and document each step on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

The role requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and at least 1 year of coatings experience; you will work around blasting and spray operations and maintain detailed logs.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is required.
• Minimum 1 year in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against data sheets.
• Keep daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
