Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the supervision of CIP Level 2/3 inspectors. You will verify surface prep and ambient conditions while documenting each step of the coating process on tanks, structures, pipes, and concrete.

You will measure wet/dry film thickness, monitor holidays and defects, verify materials and batches, and maintain a detailed inspection log with photos.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around blasting, spray operations, tanks and structures.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to the specified SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against the manufacturer's data sheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
