Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under senior guidance. You will verify surface prep, measure ambient conditions and film thickness, document each step on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

This role requires CIP Level 1 certification, 1+ year in coatings, and comfort working around blasting operations. You will maintain logs, photographs, and ensure readings meet SSPC/NACE/AMPP standards while

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• At least 1 year in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
