Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface preparation, measure ambient conditions and film thickness, and document coating applications on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

The role requires CIP Level 1, 1+ year coatings experience, and meticulous record-keeping.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records; honest about gauge readings.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
