Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of CIP Level 2/3 inspectors. You will verify surface preparation, measure ambient conditions, and document every step of coating on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

You will record readings, keep the daily inspection log, and photograph each stage. Opportunities exist to advance toward CIP Level 2 with experience and sponsored training.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life per datasheet.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
