Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic coating inspections under supervision. You will verify surface prep, measure film thickness, record ambient conditions, and document each step on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

Expect to work with specialized gauges, maintain logs, and travel to job sites as needed. Coatings inspectors advance to higher levels with experience and CIP coursework.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification is current.
• At least 1 year in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
