Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coatings under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface prep, measure ambient conditions, and document each step on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

Responsibilities include recording temperature, humidity, dew point, checking film thickness, verifying materials, and maintaining the daily inspection log with photographs of each stage.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against datasheets.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
