Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under supervision. Responsible for verifying surface prep, ambient conditions, and film thickness while documenting each step on tanks and structures.

Requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and 1+ years in coatings; must be meticulous with instruments and records and able to work around blasting operations.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is required.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application (temperature, humidity, dew point).
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet film thickness and dry film thickness; check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against the data sheet.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
