Job summary

Construction Material Testing is hiring a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coatings under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. Responsibilities include verifying surface prep, measuring ambient conditions, coating thickness, and documenting each step on tanks, structures, pipe and concrete.

AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification is required, with 1+ years in industrial coatings.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations
• Meticulous with instruments and records

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE standards
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work
