Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under supervision. You will verify surface prep, measure film thickness, monitor ambient conditions, and document every stage from tanks to concrete.

The role requires current AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and 1+ years in coatings inspection, with meticulous record-keeping and honesty in readings. Work is field-based across industrial sites with safety protocols observed.

Qualifications

AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, current.
1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
Meticulous with instruments and records; honest about readings.

Responsibilities

Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
Verify surface preparation to specified SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
Measure wet film thickness and dry film thickness; check holidays and defects.
Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing and pot life against data sheets.
Keep daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
