Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. seeks an Engineering Intern or Co-Op to contribute to waterfront and coastal projects across the Northeast. You will work on design, analysis, field surveys, and permitting while learning from experienced engineers and scientists.

You will gain hands-on experience with coastal structures, field activities, and design documentation, building a foundation for a career in marine and coastal engineering.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year of Civil, Structural, or Ocean Engineering BS (MS welcome).
• Strong curiosity, initiative, and attention to detail.
• Experience or willingness to learn AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Revit.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and willingness to travel for site work.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of coastal and waterfront structures.
• Support field surveys, inspections, and construction oversight.
• Develop technical skills using AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit.
• Perform calculations, prepare spreadsheets, and contribute to design docs.
• Shadow engineers to understand career paths after graduation.
• Assist with permitting, project coordination, and client support as needed.
