Job summary

GEI Consultants is seeking an Engineering Intern or Co-Op to gain hands-on experience on waterfront and coastal projects across the Northeast. You will work with a collaborative team on design, analysis, and field activities, developing skills in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit while learning from experienced engineers.

The role emphasizes mentorship, real engineering challenges, and opportunities to participate in permitting, client coordination, and field surveys.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in your 3rd or 4th year of a Civil, Structural, or Ocean Engineering (or related) B.S. program at an ABET-accredited school.
• MS students are welcome to apply.
• Experience (or strong desire to learn) AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Revit.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel for site work (some overnight trips).
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and analysis of coastal and waterfront structures.
• Participate in field surveys, inspections, and construction oversight.
• Develop technical skills using AutoCAD, Revit, and Civil3D.
• Perform calculations, prepare spreadsheets, and contribute to design documentation.
• Shadow engineers to learn career paths after graduation.
• Assist with permitting, project coordination, and client support as needed.
