Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Intern or Co-Op to support waterfront and coastal projects in the Northeast. You’ll assist with design, field surveys, and construction oversight while developing skills in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, gain practical experience, and explore a career path in civil/ocean engineering through mentorship and real-world assignments.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in your 3rd or 4th year of a Civil, Structural, or Ocean Engineering BS program at an ABET-accredited school. MS students welcome!
• Strong sense of curiosity, initiative, and attention to detail.
• Experience (or desire to learn) AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Revit.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel for site work (overnight trips).
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and analysis of coastal and waterfront structures.
• Participate in field surveys, inspections, and construction oversight—from pile driving to concrete placement.
• Develop technical skills using AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit.
• Perform calculations, prepare spreadsheets, and contribute to design documentation.
• Shadow engineers to learn the career path after graduation.
• Assist with permitting, project coordination, and client support as needed.
