Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Waterfront/Coastal Engineering Intern or Co-Op to join our Northeast team. You will contribute to coastal projects, help with design and field work, and learn from experienced engineers and scientists.

You’ll gain hands-on experience using AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit, perform calculations, and help prepare design documentation. The role includes site visits, travel, and collaboration across offices on a variety of waterfront challenges.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year of Civil, Structural, or Ocean Engineering (or related) B.S. at ABET-accredited school; M.S. welcomed.
• Strong curiosity, initiative, and attention to detail.
• Experience or strong desire to learn AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Revit.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel for site work (overnight trips).
• Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Support design and analysis of coastal and waterfront structures.
• Participate in field surveys, inspections, and construction oversight.
• Develop technical skills using AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit; assist with design documentation.
• Shadow engineers to learn career paths and assist with permitting and client support as needed.
